C31- How to Quit Drinking Without AA

Goal:
This course is designed to inform clinicians of other options for their alcoholic clients, which will increase the odds of overall recovery.Objective:
To educate counselors to a variety of non-spiritual based approaches to recovery for alcoholism. AA has been the automatic recovery made available to alcoholics and although successful it still has not proved to be the silver bullet. Upon completion of the course participants will be better able to assess the clients needs and make a more informed referral.
C39- The Therapeutic Value of AA’s 12 Steps
12 Hours
Goal:
This course will cover the 12 steps and how they work to aid the alcoholic of addict in recovery. A wonderful course for any counselor working with clients who could benefit from a spiritual based program of recovery.Objective:
As a result of this course participants will be able to discuss the 12 steps and how they apply to recovery from alcoholism and any other addictive disorder. Participants will also be able to describe the actions and thought processes necessary for the alcoholic to surrender to the disease. Participants will also be able to discuss the necessity of a personal inventory, relationship building and giving back what was given in order to remain sober or addiction free.
C41– Using the Principals of AA for Sobriety
10 Hours
The course text is “The Big Book of AA” by Alcoholics Anonymous
Objective:
Participants will be able to discuss the medical aspects of alcoholism and how this drives behavior. Participants will be able to discuss the importance of opening up to a spiritual relationship to aid in ones recovery. They will also be able to describe how to let go of character defects that are discovered in the 4th and 5th steps.
